Exercises
Exercises test plans, systems, and coordination under realistic conditions. NVERS designs and facilitates tabletop exercises, functional exercises, and full-scale drills — often in partnership with local, state, and federal agencies — covering scenarios such as infectious disease outbreaks, cyber incidents affecting critical infrastructure, mass casualty events, and supply chain disruptions. Examples include the Long-Term Care Facility Evacuation Full-Scale Exercise and the National Capital Region Pediatric Patient Surge Exercise
Training & Workshops
From hospital surge planning to improving emergency management capabilities, our training programs address real-world preparedness gaps identified through exercises, after-action reviews, and stakeholder input. Examples of training include hospital decontamination training courses, NVERS’ Emergency Management Basic Academy, and a regional speaker series.
Regular Coalition and Committee Meetings
Regular coalition and committee meetings keep partners aligned on priorities, share lessons learned, and build the working relationships that matter most during a response. These include Healthcare Coalition meetings, Regional EMS Council sessions, and cross-jurisdictional planning forums.
Most NVERS events are open to personnel from member organizations across our 25-jurisdiction service area, including police, hospitals, health departments, EMS agencies, long-term care facilities, and other public safety, healthcare, and emergency management partners.
